Superheroes and More

1.  I somehow have lost all of the contacts in my phone.. handy.  I think it may have something to do with a small little girl that was playing with my phone yesterday right before I noticed it.

2. My lil sister made her son a Superman cape and he loves it so much she made superhero capes for my kids, and my niece and nephews. The pink capes were a big hit with the girls.  Tell me you don't wish you had a superhero cape.  I remember running around the house with a pillowcase for a cape and tights on my head.

3.  I ran in the HEAT  of the day today.. okay it was a whole 68 degrees when I ran, but talk about a sweaty mess when I was done.  I am trying to get aclimated for the Big Sky State Games half marathon.  I nearly had a heat stroke there last year. I am revising my strategy for this year's race.  Part of the strategy includes going out like I am running a half marathon not a 5k.  I am also going to take better advantage of the water stops this year.  What was I thinking skipping the first one?  I swore to myself last year I would never do that race again, but well you know how it is.  I just KNOW I can do better than I did!

4.  I got a package in the mail today YAY!  from Alicia. A prize from a virtual 5k I did.  I LOVE getting stuff in the mail. Very exciting as it is all stuff I have not tried before. There was also some Accelerade, but I seem to have lost that to the kids.  Hopefully I will find it soon.  I am going to try it out tomorrow on my long run at the crack of dawn.  Nope, no running in the heat tomorrow.  It'll be the 50's for me!

5. And finally if you haven't have a chance and want to check out my giveaways for Running Chicks HERE and Twistbands HERE

  1. 68 degrees feels like 88 when your running so I bet it felt hot! I'm happy you got your prize. I've never tried either of those so I'm curious to find or if you like it.

  4. To have temps in the 60s to run would be awesome right now. It's already in the upper 70s with 90-100% humidity here in the mornings even at like 4:30 am. We can't beat the heat.

Totally love the super hero capes!!

I hear ya on running in this heat & humidity!! It is just miserable!! Props for going out there and getting a good run in anyway!!

  7. I love these capes! We always had the kitchen towel cape to sport!

It has been around the same temp here but very humid. That makes a big difference!

  9. Haha the things we runners swear we will never do again!! My brother had a superhero cape that my Grandma made him and I swear he refused to take it off for like 3 years. I am jealous of your 68 degree run!! Under 80 is now a rare treat here!

  10. I'd love 68 degrees about now! It's been over 80 every morning by 6am around here!

I just found your blog (from Alyssa, my ultra running partner in crime) and I love it.

I often have issues with my phone after the kid has been "playing" with it too. :)

  11. Those capes are awesome!! And I'd love 68 degrees around here... But I also know how uncomfortable 68 is when it's just starting to warm up.

  17. Those capes are adorable! I always wanted to be Wonder Woman and would have LOVED a cape. Actually, I'd probably still like a cape. lol :)

  18. I love the superhero capes! My daughter would love a pink one! :)

Definitely prepare for the heat. Run in it as much as possible, and learn to hydrate properly. I learned all of this in my last half, when it was so so so humid and I thought I might not make it. I didn't take full advantage of water stops and I regretted it by about mile 7. Oh ya and good plan not running it like a 5k, I did that too, didn't work out so well. So funny that I made all the mistakes you are trying to avoid! :)

  20. My brother had a batman cape just like that when we were kids. I was so jealous...I also used to try to velcro it to the dog, but it never worked.

  22. Yep, those capes were really cute! I had a Wonder Woman costume as a child that I would just wear around the house. So fun. How come we can't get away with that kind of stuff as adults?

Oh, and I'm not a warm weather runner either. 65 is warm for me. I love winter running, as long as I don't slip on ice...
