Cola is a busy dog and sometimes that means he feels like he has to go play with the horses before I go for a run. Not a big deal if I am running from home, but if I am taking the kids somewhere while I go for a run it can mean a stinky dirty ride in the car. The kids don't like to take him because, well sometimes the dog has gas. Dog farts are just nasty. But how can I leave this sweet little face at home?
He just seems to know when I am going running and is the first to jump in the car when I open the door. He is determined not to be left behind. Can't say that I blame him, I am pretty determined not to miss out on my run either. So we all just hope that Cola can hold it in a little longer.
Yesterday, I took the kids down to my parent's house while I ran. Cola thankfully spared our noses. I had just go the kids in the house and was talking to my Mom when a horrible gust of wind came up and blew over their grill outside and generally was making a mess of things outside. We righted the grill and then ran back in the house to stare at the craziness going on outside. My Mom looked at me and asked "You want to go running in that? "
"No" I laughed, but lucky for me the winds slowed down to a more tolerable level and headed out the door only to discover..I WAS NAKED. I had left my Garmin AND my Ipod at home. Aack! I briefly considered driving home just to get them but decided to just go for it. I know the distances roughly and knew I wanted to run 6 miles, so off I went.
I was pretty good about not trying to check my watch to see my pace. I think I only tried 10 or 20 times in the first mile or so after that I was good until I tried to pause it while I took a picture. I couldn't believe how naked my wrist felt. Funny. I missed the Garmin way more than I missed the ipod, but it did feel good to not worry about pace and time and just enjoy the run, especially the last three miles when I turned around and got to run with the wind instead of against it!
Here is what I stopped to take a picture of. There are lots of these rocks on my family's ranch and we had so much fun playing on them while growing up. I always thought this one was really cool because it looks kind of like an Egyptian pharaoh. Like it could be in front of a pyramid or something.
My run felt so good yesterday and when I got home I wanted to run again! I did a Bodyrock.tv workout instead to work my arms and core.
I found out yesterday also that I get to be a Fitfluential Ambassador! I am so excited about it. It looks like it is going to be a really great opportunity and I am the first one in Montana.
Yep, I am in the club!
You can still enter to win a pair of BTB sunglasses HERE Last day to enter is tomorrow.
Where was your favorite place to play when you were a kid?
Oh I hate not running with my Garmin or music….but it never seems to be as bad I think it's going to be :) Congrats on the Fitfluential Ambassador! I got accepted too :)
ReplyDeleteI hate running without my Garmin! Twice I've gotten to the trails to realize I didn't have it and ended up using MapMyRun on my cell, but it isn't that good on the trails. Both times I ended up running courses I had done before and just used the time from my phone. I haven't used my iPod regularly and I don't miss it. I do when I go on long runs for a couple miles after the 1/2 way point, but that's it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on FItFluential, very cool! If I run without my Garmin I still look down at my wrist to check it - so silly!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being part of FitFluential!! I want to be, too!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's great to just run without all the technology. When I was a kid we lived in a huge forested area. All the kids in the neighborhood would explore the forest and play games. We could be out there all day and not even notice.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the Fit Fluential thing.
ReplyDeleteAccording to your definition, I run naked all the time! :)
Have a great weekend.
YAY! for fit fluential. What an honor and very impressive. My dream is to someday as well :) I would die running naked, ok maybe that is dramatic but it would be very difficult for sure!!! Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me wonder - do people really run naked - like really naked? I know barefoot running is the craze - but how about no clothes either? Hmm...I think not - too many things bouncing about if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteGreat job you little nudie, you! I love cola, so cute. Congrats on fit fluential... although I have no clue what that is. Regardless you still qualify in my book.
ReplyDeleteCongrats fit fluential! You are going to be such a great ambassador :)
ReplyDeleteI like the photo of that pharoh-ish rock, my imagination would have run wild about that as a kid.
I am working on a post about why I chose to run "naked" twice a week while training hard. I think it's good for you. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yay! I just got chosen at a Fitfluential Ambassador too. Hopefully we'll get to meet in person!
Congrats on being a Fitfluential ambassador. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteHaha every time I run without my Garmin I move my hand to pause it every time I stop at a red light. That's true addiction. Great job on the naked run!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on fitfluential ambassador! And, of course I love your pup cola. He is beautiful. I wish I could run naked sometimes. After having the garmin 1.5 years, I'm seriously addicted to it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your Fit Fluential ambassador!!! That's awesome! There are some dog competitions around here where the dog can't wear a collar. I spend most of the day chanting, "remember to run naked." I get some strange looks! At least I'm assuming that why... :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time leaving my Garmin behind but it feels good to let go sometimes.
I grew up in a State Park in South Dakota so I was always outside building forts and playing in the creek, I loved it!
I got asked to do fitfluential but opted not, you'll have to let me know what you think about it :) and no more titles like that! I was seriously beginning to think you were naked :P lol
ReplyDeletecongrats on the fitfluential!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot my iphone for a race once and it was actually one of my more enjoyable runs!Sometimes it is nice to disconnect!
Congrats on being selected for FitFluential!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics from your run!
