You might remember when I was in the running for a grant from Team Refuel and I was begging for votes, and thanks to all of you I won. :) But we already knew that, the new news is that I got a package in the mail Saturday with all of my Team Refuel winnings inside. I got a really great hat with reflective markings on it. A tech shirt that will be great for running in when it warms up. A bag that is like a lot of other bags I have except this one has a zippered pocket on the front. There was also a reusable ice pack and of course the $250 check. :) I started shoe shopping immediately online.

I knew that one of the shoes I would order would be Asics Kayanos. I have been running in that shoe for at least 10 years. I love it. It works for me. The 18's are out. Road Runner Sports was having a great sale and I got them for a super deal. I ran in the 16s and the 17s this last year. Still am. Thinking I will probably also get a pair of the 16s or 17s again for next year too. I hope I like the 18s as much as I have all the others.

I keep thinking of trying some other shoes, but I know these work for me and I hate to mess with it. I haven't had any serious injuries. I had a little plantar fasciitis last year, but really that is all. :) Some other minor things but I think those weren't related to the shoes I was wearing.
Anyone else see anything about this picture that looks funny? I noticed it right off and wasn't going to post it, but gave in.

ReplyDeleteThose are the same shoes I wore for many years. Then I wore a different shoe and injured myself. I say stick with them if they're working!

ReplyDeleteI'm actually trying to decide right now between going to a running store and getting an analysis done (and all that fun stuff) to get the "right" shoe or just going to the store and buying another pair of what I'm already running in. All I know is I need to decide soon. Hrm.

ReplyDeleteYou look great in your new gear! Congrats again! I stuck with the same Asics for a while ( went through two pairs) and then decided to switch to New Balance. Big mistake...I've been having the worst foot pain and I think I need to go back to my originals!

ReplyDeleteI'm always nervous to try a different shoe if the one I have has been working for me. It's a (relatively) big investment and I don't want to waste it on shoes that I'm unsure of! Congrats on the refuel stuff - you look great in it!

ReplyDeleteI have tried to branch out from my asics nimbus shoes (aka cloud shoes), but I have just found that they work for best for me. Don't love the way they look on me, they are ugly as heck, but they are the most comfortable. A couple months ago, I did branch out to try some Mizuno's, but did not love them. So I switched back!

ReplyDeleteI used to be pretty dedicated to one model of shoes, but I've done quite a bit of experimenting lately. I'm happy w/ what I have right now, though.
As soon as I found the right shoes for me I decided to stick with them (Nike Vomero). I tried to change to the Asics Kayanos once but they gave me shin splints when I ran in them. Congratulations on your Team Refuel win and all of the nice things that came with it. $250.00 is sweet!

ReplyDeleteI ran with Adidas Brevards for 6 years and then felt like crying when they were discontinued :( Then I went to Brooks GTS and they discontinued the ones I wore so now I am on Asics GT 2160. I hope to stay with these for a while.

ReplyDeleteI love Asics but it seems that if I wear them for too long I end up with ITB problems. Just bought a new pair of shoes this past week and chose Mizuno's. I've run in them for a year or so and like them. Happy that I had an alternative.

Congrats! How fun! I wear Asics right now, switching between Kayano, 3020 & 2150. One pair stays clean for the treadmill and I switch between two pairs on outside runs.

ReplyDeleteAs a new-ish runner the only thing I can say about Shoes is that I will be getting fitted correctly from now on. Thank goodness for awesome running store staff who weren't afraid to touch my gross sweaty feet :)
