I think Cola thought so too.
We took a few short breaks to enjoy the view and soak in the deep blue sky. He is such a great running buddy!
I wore my new Lululemon running skirt again. I am so in love with. I wish I would have worn a short sleeve shirt, but I didn't. I got a little warm when I was running with the wind, but when I turned around to run into the wind it wasn't bad.
I whined about my right knee area hurting yesterday. It did give me some twinges, but nothing really horrible, and it was way too freaking nice to be in the house not running. I hope I didn't go too far, I meant to only run 5 or 6 miles if my leg felt all right. I was going to throw in the towel if it started hurting.
I ran 11.12 miles.
I kept the pace super easy and stayed right around 9 minute miles. I had to make myself go back. It was so nice out. I can rest tomorrow.
I was going to run the cow trails in the hills, but then decided I better stick to the road so I didn't aggravate my leg any more than already was.
This route is my favorite. Scenic. Beautiful. Wide open spaces.
I have been using my new running journal that my mom got me for my birthday.
I still use daily mile, but I find it fun to fill in the journal before I go to bed at night.
Do you run sometimes when you know you should probably be resting?
What is chicken soup for your soul?
what an amazing view! that first pic with cola is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The weather lately has been spectacular. I'm hoping my 12 today goes as well as your 11.12 did.
ReplyDeleteMy chicken soup is getting outdoors in any capacity at all. Restores my soul!
Whew all your runs have been long! Go girl! I hope your knee feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day!!! Getting outside totally restores me!!! It's an added bonus if it's warm and I'm at the beach!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome day!!! I really wish Bungee would run with me the way Cola runs with you. Also, every time you mention Cola, it makes me want soda.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of cola.. Heck I love all the photos of the scenery!
ReplyDeleteRight now , the chicken soup for my running soul is having good workouts, pain free and not having to jump to the cycle after 2 miles of running.
Running is completely my chicken soup! Without a doubt. I try, really hard, to not run when I know I shouldn't. With my injury history, I have to be smart (but am not always). Why are we like that?!
ReplyDeleteYes! Definitely struggle to rest when I should. But you're obviously not hurting too bad if you could get that kind of distance in. :) I also love journalling my running log by hand before bed! Online tools are great, but there's something about writing it out that I love.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I am sure Cola was loving the day, too.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you are having warm weather right now and you are enjoying those outside runs... hope your leg is GREAT!
Nope, I always take my Friday off.. I never run on that day because I know Saturday I need it. I love your dogs name!!! COLA I love it!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I feel the need to run I just get out there and do a short one at a slow pace through the park and stop to let the dog sniff and stuff...always makes me feel better! Exercise including running is definitely the best thing for my soul!
ReplyDeleteWow, those pictures take my breath away! No wonder you went for 11 instead of 5. As usual it's rainy and cold here:( but I guess I could just visualize your pictures while I run in the rain:)
ReplyDeleteomgggg! completely gorgeous! i sometimes run when i thought i would rest. sometimes i just get that itch that it seems like only a run will settle :) thanks for sharing your pics! they are incredible!
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate it when you wear the wrong gear? I do that often. I try to go with the 20 degree rule, but I still miss the mark sometimes. It can make for a miserable run if you're too hot or cold. lol Hope your knee feels better. :)
ReplyDeleteWHAT A view! and have I told you I love cola???
ReplyDelete...ya i know I have! but I just love Cola!
I think I'd love running with Peanut a lot more if she could run off lead like Cola. If only she was smart enough for that :)
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect Christy! I am so glad you were able to enjoy a nice relaxing run. You totally deserved it. I only wish I was there to enjoy it with you. Let's enjoy this weather while it lasts! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the great weather the Midwest is having. So glad you got to get out and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteBeing outside is my Chicken soup.
Short term chicken soup = a cup of tea or a hot bath
ReplyDeleteLong term chicken soup = I'm not sure - sometimes it's outdoor activities, sometimes it's friends, ...
I love that Cola looks like he's pondering the view as well. I'd love to have such an awesome running buddy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your rest day, I'm sure your knee will be fine.
so so pretty, love the views and the weather is awesome! I cant imagine a winter till June even though I love winter.
ReplyDeleteno I never want to run on a rest day, I am the laziest runner you will ever meet.
It's fun to see all of the different places that bloggers run. I really like that top photo with the hills and your dog in it. My dog ran 5 miles with me today. She's a good running buddy, too!
ReplyDeleteWow, 58 degrees and no snow on the ground is insane indeed in January in Montana! Looks like great running weather!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful dog! I love dogs, I have 3 haha.
ReplyDeleteThat area looks beautiful too! I sometimes run when I should be resting, but there's just those beautiful days when you know you have to get out there.
Thanks for you comment on my blog!
My wall of motivation is right outside my bedroom in the hallway so I see it everday, I've had it up for a while now but just updated it with some new quotes and such so I hope it helps to keep me motivated this year.
Soooo pretty! Glad you had a nice run, always so invigorating when the weather turns nice in January (it was 68 here in Denver yesterday. Snow tomorrow though :(). Good to hear the knee was on board!
ReplyDeleteLovvve your picutres! Oh, and your dog is adorable too. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! Where is all the snow!?
ReplyDeletethe areas you have to run in are simply AMAZING views. For some reason I never caught that your dog's name is Cola, LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteThis week has been a CLASSIC example of me running when I should be resting- didn't listen and now I'm even more sick (hard not to get out there when the weather is so welcoming)
i am very jealous of your running environment. such a breathtaking view! lovely run.
ReplyDeleteI too am very jealous of your running routes! So beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteChicken soup for my soul = a good, long run; a good book; listening to music that i use to listen to during my childhood with my parents :)
