Poor new shoes and a Zuzanna sighting!

I had a bit of a muddy slogfest of a run yesterday.  I was planning to do a little speed work but all I did was slide around so I turned it into an easy run and am going to try for speed work today instead.  My pretty new Kayanos are officially no longer uber bright white.  :(
Tempted to wash them but what difference will it make, they are running shoes, they get to run on dirt roads and that means MUD.  Just as well get used to it.

For those of you that follow/have followed Bodyrock.tv and were bummed out when Zuzanna departed..great news!  She is back on You Tube with a new channel, not affiliated with Bodyrock.tv anymore but on her own. The name ZWOD or Zuzanna's workout of  the day is not nearly as catchy but.. she is touting it as using no equipment.  I love this!  In other words no Ugi Ball, Dip Station, Equalizer bars, etc.  In other words so much easier and cheaper to do at home, ladies! Although not entirely true as I have seen her using a dumb bell and a jump rope.

Here is a preview

Instead of a HIIT format she is giving you a set of exercises and then seeing if you can beat your time the next time you do it.  Here is what she describes it as

Every week Zuzana Light will give you new ZWODs (Zuzana's Workout of the Day). Remember to track how long it takes you to complete each workout then focus on beating your time! With every ZWOD you perform, achieving your fitness goals will become that much closer. Zuzana will always lead you through your workout, so don't think hard... PUSH HARD!
Not sure I entirely like this, but I guess I can always take the exercises she gives and put them into a HIIT format instead.  I want to concentrate on doing the exercise right not just beating my time.

Bodyrock.tv is still doing a great job and has found some great hosts but I really missed Zuzanna and was getting a little turned off by all the equipment.  How are you supposed to do it at home easily if they keep introducing new equipment that you can't afford?  I haven't been keeping up with the new workouts because of this instead I have been going back and doing old ones or making up my own.

Now if Zuzanna would just start her own website to outline the workouts like Bodyrock.tv does it would be awesome!

Here is a look at one of her new ones

I am off to go try it!

  1. sorry about the new shoes! I got my shoes pretty muddy yesterday. I was kind of bummed, even though my shoes aren't new, but I kept telling myself sometimes it's worth it to get your feet a little dirty. Good luck with the Zuzanna workout!

  2. I did this ZWOD last weekend and I'm putting my bootcamp class through it today. I missed Zuzanna and although I don't mind the new body rock hosts, the amount of equipment is getting out of control. I will say that as long as they continue to offer alternative ways to do the workout without the equipment, I'll keep watching/doing.

  3. I'm going to check her new workouts out! I never really got into Bodyrock.tv because I didn't want to buy/make any equipment, but this sounds perfect for me.

  7. The fact that you were running in conditions that could make your shoes look like that is awesome. Way to be.

  9. I go crazy when I get my running shoes filthy. I LIKE pretty clean shoes. Boo!

All the equipment was what turned me off from bodyrock, so I'm going to have to check out Z's new videos. Hmm. I wonder if I can set up a playlist to automatically grab anything she posts ... off to play on YouTube :)

  10. I wonder if my new shoes will look like that after tomorrow. Probably not, as I think the snow returns. It's just a matter of time, though!

  12. I wash my running shoes all the time but they do end up getting dirty! I just got a new pair of the pures and they are white and I dont want to wear them since they will not look as pretty.

  13. doesn't it just suck when white shoes are no longer white. but now you won't care at all :) it's just when they're new that you care, so this is actually a good thing :D

  15. Ran after work today and of course had to take the dog...who happens to be a long haired, thick coat, Alaskan Malamute. Needless to say after yesterdays snow and todays warmer temps it was a complete mud show and my sneakers, and my dog, look like your sneakers! So now that the dog has started to dry the mud is all over my house!

  18. I hate when I get my shoes dirty, even by just the slightest bit. I was spot cleaning them the other day in my kitchen sink after a rain-y run : )

  19. Oh, poor new muddy running shoes! I've just barely gotten to a place where I don't get a little sad when my shoes get dirty. They are outdoor running shoes- they aren't meant to stay clean!

  20. I always feel sad the first time my pretty new shoes get dirty, but then I get over it. :) You run through some serious mud! I've even more impressed with your paces now!

  22. Ha- love those shoes! Love/hate relationship with new shoes - love them with when they're white/hate them when they're white, right? Glad to know the run following the slogfest went well!

  23. That's a LOT of mud!
But that's a sign of a runner. You were using your shoes.
Recently I got spaghetti sauce on my shoes. Thank goodness they were "retired" running shoes I just wear around to run errands. :)

  24. Do you throw out your mud shoes once you wear them out?
