Feb Wrapup

First of all thanks for all the supportive comments in yesterdays post. It really means a lot to me. I know we are  already 6 days into March but I still wanted to get this done.

Miles run: 150
Total for the year 306
Longest Run 17 miles

It was a really busy month with the first week being consumed by federal jury duty and a week of the kids and I being sick, and my little sister being here for the month.  I am a little surprised I managed to get in that many miles with all that went on.

and how am I doing with my goals for the year?

1. Drink more water:  I am doing a lot better at work, but don't seem to do very good at home.  I think it is just the weather being cold maybe?  I can walk around cleaning the house and think "I'm thirsty" but then I just do and do something else, like getting a glass of water is such a big chore or something.

2. Wear more sunscreen: I still have so much room for improvement here.  I think adding a bottle of sunscreen to my running gear bag will help.

3.Run 1500 miles this year (about 125 a month or 28 a week) Mileage for the month is..150.  This is my second highest mileage in a month ever.  I think if I would not have had jury duty and been sick it would have been even higher.

4. Eat less sugar: I have been doing better here.  I cut it out for Lent.  Or at least I am trying to.  I was doing great until my husband brought home a bag of Nibs.

5. Run Faster.  I have added speed workouts in again and am feeling really good about them.

6.Read the kids a bedtime story every night.  Done except for the times they fall asleep on the couch early.

7.Keep running clothes in my car so when the opportunity presents itself I can knock out a quick run. This added up to an extra 14 miles again in February.

On a totally different note, I took my son into the pediatrician yesterday for his kindergarten checkup.  He did so great and had to have three more shots.  Seems like a lot of shots.  Afterwards we took him to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  YUM.  I had the mint oreo blizzard.

  6. I love DQ!!!! It was all we had in the closest town to where I grew up. Do you remember when they used to have Breeze's? I always used to get the Hawaiian one. Now I want DQ and its not even 6:30 am, haha.

  18. Good for you on getting some good miles in Feb. That is usually a hard month to get alot of miles with out all the snow. This winter has been great for running. But you know me I still want some warmer weather. Low to night is in the 50. I cant wait to run in the morning. Shorts baby here they come.

  21. Great month, Christy!

My kids just had their 5-YO shots too. The doc's office had told me there would be *four* shots each, and I was so stressed about it that I made Dan come with me. In the end, there were only two shots each (they did some combos), Ruthie cried for 10 seconds and Will actually *laughed*--he said it "tickled." I was glad that aren't as wimpy as I was at their age. I still took them out to lunch afterwards. I'm glad your little guy did well, too. :^)

  22. P.S. I'm still doing well on the no-sugar Lent, but it's easy for me because I take Sundays "off." This past Sunday I enjoyed bread pudding and part of a co-worker's Nestle Crunch bar. :^)

  24. Great month, that's some impressive mileage! And a 17 mile run, that's amazing that you pulled off such a great long run and you're not even currently training for a marathon, that's truly impressive!
