Three Things Thursday

 1.  I had a leaping good run on leap day.  The morning started out cold and snowy with wind in the forecast.  I was feeling grumpy about the weather but then saw the temperature climbing and the sun shining and the wind barely blowing. By the time I got out the door it was really nice out.  I didn't even need the ear warmer headband.   YAY!

I had a great 10 mile run that was interrupted at precisely mile 5 by an old high school friend driving by and stopping to chat. It was supposed to be a tempo run, but I am still trying to get those figured out and think it was more of a progressive.  Either way, it felt great and was a great run on a beautiful day.

2. I took the kids and several of their cousins down to my parents house.  My little sister and her kids are there until Sunday when they are leaving for Tunisia.  All the cousins but 1 was there and the weather was divinely beautiful.  We played outside all afternoon.  My Dad stopped in after checking on the heifers who are starting to calve and gave the kids 4 wheeler rides much to their delight.

 Distributed suckers
 Wrestled with the kids
Then caught a nap in the sun while the kids rolled down the hill.
It was sunny, 55 degrees and we seriously could not get enough of playing outside. Just what I needed!  I have been feeling so over winter lately!

  3. Did you grow up on a farm???? Usually people just saw "cows" so I figured you must be a farm girl if you can distinguish a "heifer" from a "cow". My pet peeve is when people say "baby cow". LOL. Have a great day! :-)

  15. I finally had a great run today too--and good thing because it may be nasty tomorrow. It's already colder now than it was at 6:30 a.m. We'll see.

  18. Yep, I grew up on a dairy farm on the Oregon Coast. If you have ever heard of Tillamook Cheese, my dad's farm is one of the largest producers. I miss it, but it is always great to go home (I live about 8 hours away now). Even though I live in the city now, I will always be a dairy farmer's daughter. You can never take the country out of a girl. :-)

  19. I love your jumping photo! Or I guess I should say "leaping". That looks like so much fun with your dad. I didn't know you could fit that many people on a four wheeler :)
