Failed run.

I was going to do a two part run yesterday.  I failed, but I am okay with that.

It started out okay but about half a mile into the first run I felt a funny pain in the back of my knee.  and my anterior tibialis muscles on both legs felt tired and crampy.  I run/walked through two miles and decided to call it a day, after that though my legs felt better so I did five more.  I set out later in the day to finish my run and half a mile in all the same problems came up.

Yes it was a little chilly out yesterday!

Not sure what the funky pain in the medial posterior part of my knee is, but I am betting resting will help.  I did an hour on my elliptical instead with no pain and felt good.  I will rest today and test it out again tomorrow.  I still have 13 weeks until the marathon so at this point I am not worried about messing up my training and am just wanting to be healthy and injury free!

I am trying really hard to listen to my body, but it can be so hard when I just want to run, run, run!

In this picture you can see (barely) Cola.  He is chasing birds, like he really thinks he can catch one.

  2. that is such a beautiful picture! No wonder they call it "big sky" country! Seems to go on forever!

    I hope that knee gets better. Rest a few days and you'll be good!

  3. Good job for listening to your body and taking some rest. I am sure that with ice/rest your knee will be just fine. Do you need new running shoes? My knee (the one I had ACL reconstruction on) always aches more when I need new shoes.

  4. Christy, what a beautiful photo, you always have the most beautiful scenery for your jogs!

    I sometimes have funny feelings in my legs and then it will go away after a day of rest. I've been super lucky so far that none of it has turned into a real injury....I bet that yours will feel better after a day or two as well, you seem pretty injury resistant!

  6. Definitely take it easy and listen to your body. Have you ever been to a chiropractor? They worked wonders for me when I was feeling beat up from marathon training.

  8. I almost ALWAYS have cramping in my anterior tibialis muscles - they loosen up after a mile or two, and then everything is fine. Weirdest thing.

    Hope the rest fixes everything!

  10. Smart woman to listen to your body! My pup always thinks he can catch the birds too-cracks me up. It's not like he sneaks up on them. More like ascends on them at a million miles a hour in hopes to shock one into staying on the ground! Funny puppies!
