I have been having some hip pain... boo. It isn't really characteristic of IT band pain, hip flexor pain. It hurts under the iliac crest on the left side. It is sore when I first start running but then once I warm up I don't notice it anymore. I couldn't find my foam roller so after work yesterday I went to my favorite running store and got a new one.
They had the basic round foam model like I already have someone in my house and they also had the Rumble Roller. I tried out the Rumble Roller in the store and was in love. The price tag was a little higher, but I think it will be worth it.
My husband really liked rolling on it for his back last night. My son took one look at it and knew exactly what it was really going to be good for.
I don't know why I didn't think of that right away, but it is a perfect stage prop for setting my a cowboys and indians showdown. We had an epic battle as soon as I got it home.
and even though it is beautiful out today with now wind, the sun shining and me not at work, I am taking a rest day to stretch, ice and roll my hip. I am going to take the kids to the park and pick up my race packet for this weekends 5 mile race.
And the lucky winner of the Simple Hydration water bottle is according to Random.org is...
who blogs over at Keep On Keeping On... Congrats! Email me your info and I will pass it on to them so they can get that out to you!

How cute is that!!? :) My boys take my stuff all the time and use it for their own devices! I'm surprised I have anything any more that belongs to me :)
ReplyDeleteI love the imagination of kids, I wish we could have that for life haha. Interesting foam roller; I've never seen anything besides the basic. I'm going to have to look into that since I need to get one for my glutes and hip flexors. Thanks for posting about it.
ReplyDeleteLove the new roller. I have seen these around and wondered what they are all about. Your son is absolutely adorable and that totally cracked me up.

ReplyDeleteI hope it does the trick and you have a great race!
NOOOOOO I'm bummed to hear about your hip!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm not worried about you, because your hip will be better in no time at all, especially if you spend any time with that crazy looking foam roller. I hope it feels better ASAP, I'm sure it's nothin to worry about :)
Glad you are getting on top of the hip, pain now. Sounds similar to mine which has been going on for too long and is now keeping me out of my marathon next Saturday. Discouraging, yes! Had a few really rough days and now I have a new plan. Just gotta bib for the Utah Valley marathon and am hoping to get on top of this hip pain before then. Now I need to go order one of those hydration bottles :)
ReplyDeleteYour little man looks pretty pumped! Hope you get feeling better!

Congrats to the winner and that SUCKS about having hip pain....I just figured out my diagnosis! So maybe you have an upslip too?? anyway I love that little cowboy used the rumble roller at a tower. So cool.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope that hip pain is short-lived! Looks like you lost your hip rolling device for a little war with the cowboys - hehe. I love kids' imaginations, they just make me smile. Hope the war ends soon so you can get back to hip rolling ;).
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the kind of foam roller I need! Something with spikes.
