1. I miss the days when I would go to bed and sleep all night. Then I had kids and I don't think I have slept all night since. Last night I was awake from 2 to 4 thinking I should just get up, but I kept hoping I would fall back asleep. I did of course and was sleeping soundly by the time my alarm went off at 4:45. I hit the snooze a couple times before finally dragging myself out of bed.
2. Thanks for all the great comments on yesterdays post with my race pictures. I know sometimes we are our own worst enemy. I looked at the pictures again and managed to find something positive in each of them. Like my ripped arms. I do think they look great and why can't I? I have afterall worked very hard to get them. It is much funner to find positive things in life than dwell on the negative, like when I look like I am about to vomit.
3. Snakes. They don't really bother me, but since we do have rattlesnakes around here I do try to avoid them. I saw one when was running on Tuesday, actually I nearly stepped on it. Thankfully it was recent roadkill. Wednesday I saw another about a quarter of a mile up the road from where I saw the first one. Also roadkill. Makes me wonder if I am seeing this many dead in two days, how many are out slithering throught the field behind my house!
Happy Thursday.
I'm still surprised that I haven't seen more snakes trail running. I wonder how Bungee would react. Then again, she'd probably just be terrified, like she is of everything else in life.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, snakes freak me out! Can't believe you almost stepped on one...yikes, but at least it was already dead! whew!
ReplyDeleteI almost stepped on one at the pool at our disney hotel...I started screaming and my boys laughed at me!!! LOL!
Snakes freak me out! I don't think I would want to know how many are in the field by your house :-)
ReplyDeleteRattlesnakes would not be welcome company on my runs. But then again, I'm sure it's beautiful where you run, so it's a small price to pay, right?
ReplyDeleteNothing harder than just falling back to sleep right before the alarm goes off!
That always kills me when you are up for hours and then sound asleep when your alarm actually goes off. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYes, your arms look totally ripped in the pictures - that's cuz they are! Nice job on the race.
You should feel good about your arms...they rock! I hate you for that...but that's ok ;)
ReplyDeleteSleep??? Since when do moms need sleep? hmmm, maybe that's why I am always so tired...
;)
I saw a snake on my run Tuesday - even though I knew it was a garter snake or similar, it still made me jump.
ReplyDeleteEEEEEK Snakes!!! Not a fan!!! Awww the good ole days when we could sleep as much as we wanted!!!
ReplyDeleteI often see snakes when I am riding but not when running. I think I like it that way!
ReplyDeleteJosh and I saw a lynx on our run the other morning but they aren't too scary. SNAKES are super scary!!! Luckily we are too cold too much of the year to get any big ones. My friend's son got bit by one on vacation last year and had to get life-flighted to a children's hospital and was admitted for several days.
ReplyDeleteI think you looked great in your pics. I figure we aren't supposed to be smiling and posing when we are racing - we are supposed to look like we are working hard. :)
Yes, once you have kids, I don't know if there is such a thing as sleeping through the night. Even though my boys have slept through the night since they were babies, I still wake up for every little noise. No rattlesnakes here, but once we hit eastern WA, they appear.
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with snakes around here, but only because they are harmless. I freak out at the thought of poisonous ones!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I used to sleep through the night...and then my husband picked up a snoring habit. :)
I almost ran over a snake on a run the other week!! Scared the heck out of me!
ReplyDeleteI am kind of afraid of snakes and they creep me out but I do think they are so interesting and beautiful too. I don't like coming across one slithering across my path though.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you had a look at your pics with a new perspective.
I like snakes but I am terrified of them. :) I love to see them. They are just such pretty things.
ReplyDeletei'm so scared of snakes! I'm glad I don't have any near me besides a rare garden one near trails and such.
ReplyDeletesnakes freak my jazz out!!
ReplyDeleteI have started drinking chamoille or other tea at night and that has become a ritual that slows me down to get better sleep
We keep stumbling on dead snakes a lot lately too.
ReplyDeleteIt' weird because I haven't seen snakes for years.
I'm not a fan of sharing my run with them.
It's 4am and I'm reading blogs....I don't sleep worth a crap anymore. Hate it!!
ReplyDeleteI came to a screeching halt yesterday on my trail run with a big old snake planted in front of me. Just was big and nasty....I just don't like them.
Your race pictures are really great, I think. Shows a look of great determination to finish!! :)
