1. There were already four wildfires burning in the western part of the state when two got started Tuesday in the eastern part of the state. One of the burned over 100,000 acres in 24 hours and the other burned almost 20,000 and about 60 houses. \
I can't believe the sale of fireworks is even allowed when it is this dry. Anyone who starts a fire with one should be burned at the stake. None of the above fires were caused by fireworks, but it is almost the fourth of July and all kinds of idiots think they need to set of their own fireworks.
I liked my Dad's idea when we were growing up of doing it over New Years instead.
Don't get me wrong I don't hate fireworks, but I do hate fires.
2. I have a new fear about the marathon. I am now worried about more fires starting and it having to be canceled due to either fire or smoky conditions.
I would be so bummed! 10 days to go! No fireworks!
3. My daughter insists on wearing long sleeves and jeans. Even when it is 100 degrees outside. She thinks short sleeves are silly. Whatever, she will either figure it out or she won't!
At least she's not insisting on wearing short sleeves in the winter? :)
ReplyDeleteOh man! I hope they get control of the fires and no one is dumb enough to start fires with a firework next week!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter cracks me up!
I hate hearing about all the fires. Makes me sad. And, I agree, fireworks should be limited to centralized displays. Of course, that being said, we'll be attending our neighborhood fireworks display. I am such a hypocrite. I view it as a case of can't beat 'em, join 'em. (Of course, we're not under a fire danger at this point.)
ReplyDeleteI did that as a kid. I still remember wearing corduroys and a jacket in the summer and my mom trying to get me to change. I don't remember being too hot, though. The plus side, I guess, is your daughter won't have to worry about sun damage to her skin. :)
I have been hearing about all of the fires and I sure hope she get it all under control! Fireworks are illegal in the City I live in but there are still those people who do them anyway! Your marathon is almost here! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteUgh, the fires are so sad to see on the news, hoping things calm down soon! BUT...YAY for the marathon - you're going to rock it!
ReplyDeleteTwo years ago, Edmonton Marathon was faced with smoky conditions from wildfires in BC and northern Alberta. It still went ahead and a last minute rain storm calmed the smoke enough for the race. They just did a lot of air quality warnings for asthmatics.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to send you some of our ridiculous amount of rain. It wouldn't need to travel too far south to reach you..
I live in Utah and our whole town smells like a huge camp fire, covered in smoke, ashes dropping, and a lot of surrounding towns being evacuated. I found it interesting last night on The Five, they discussed how some current regulations do not allow/restrict large controlled burns in many areas and now that mother nature has started some of these fires they are just spreading like crazy; could have possibly been avoided with some burns in prior years.
ReplyDeleteYour marathon is so soon!! So excited to see how you do. :)
I really hope the fires get under control soon. It's so scary to read about.
ReplyDeleteThe fires are just breaking my heart... I can't imagine. So sorry!
ReplyDeleteAnd as long as she isn't going naked to church, that's a successful childhood! :)

yikes, those fires are scary!! :( I don't know how your daughter can wear long sleeves and jeans. I feel like I'm melting even in short sleeves when it's 100 degrees. I hope she changes her mind soon. I'm so excited for you to rock your marathon!!
ReplyDeleteThe fire situation is scary. It was 107 here yesterday. I will pray for rain for you all and hope the Marathon goes on as planned!
ReplyDeleteI used to get freaked out that my son wore his shoes on the wrong feet when he was 4 and 5 years old. The good news is he turns 21 in July 19th and now wears them on the correct feet. This too shall pass. :)
marathon day is coming up FAST!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be there to be your personal french cheerleader!!!
All the news about the fires is just heartbreaking. I'm praying for heavy rain for everyone!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you in Missoula. I am just as nervous about the half as you are about the full! Did you get my fb message about presenting for Team Beef in Bozeman on the 12th? Are you interested in going with me? Please say yes!!!
ReplyDeleteFires scare me and sadden me. I'm praying for everyone and all the wildlife affected.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I love that your daughter wears long sleeves. Funny. I rarely wear shorts to this day. Running, yes, but normally, I prefer pants.
