Who wouldn't want orange socks?

1. I have become a HUGE fan of compression socks during training for my first marathon.  I love how good they feel during and after the long runs.  I even sleep in them sometimes although sometimes halfway through the night I take them off.  Most of the compression socks I have, all but one, are from PRO Compression.

I love them.  A coworker of mine whose husband went to a seminar last night on compression socks had all kinds of good things to say about them, including they can help improve your marathon time.  I'm hooked!
Marathon Orange
Their sock of the month for June came out and I am in LOVE with the new color...ORANGE.

Normally their socks are $50, but you can order these for 40% off ($30) with the coupon code SOM610 when you check out, with free shipping.  (and who doesn't love scoring free shipping?)
The code is good until July 10 or till they are out of orange socks.

2. I saw a Rock and Roll Marathon semi headed down the interstate on Monday, probably coming from Seattle this weekend.  Headed to wherever the next stop is maybe.  That got me all excited since I am planning on a Rock and Roll Marathon/Half Marathon or two this fall.  As a part of Team Refuel I get free race bibs on a first come first serve basis.  I have two secured.

3. Chaffing, all the crazy humidity and sweating I did yesterday on my hot 10 mile long run caused my thighs to chafe.  OUCH!  The last two miles seemed really long and I kept trying to pull the shorts down to cover it but it was just beyond where the shorts wanted to be.  The sweaty shors kept making the chaffed area burn anyway.  I have never had this problem.  Probably because it is so rarely humid where I live in Montana.

I took a picture of it but could not bring myself to post it because it looks so gross, like I have a nasty rash or something.

Note to self:  Use Body Glide for the marathon whether or not I think I will need it. Chaffing burns!

  4. I love fun socks and those orange ones are awesome! Rock n roll was definitely fun, you will have a blast with whichever one you do. Chafing sucks big time! Slather on as much body glide as possible or use aquaphor or vaseline (body glide wasn't enough for me)

  7. I wore compression socks during the Seattle Rock and Roll marathon this past weekend and I really think they helped. Normally I just use compression for recovery but using them during the marathon really made my legs not as tired as my past marathons and helped the lactic acid not build up.

Body glide or vaseline is a must for your marathon! I put it everywhere but especially thighs, feet, and sports bra area

Can't wait to hear which RnR races you are running! .

  8. SO cool that you get those free bibs!!

DEFINITELY use anti-chafe stuff during your marathon, you won't regret it!

I always chafe a lot during the humid weather, blah...

  9. I am loving my compression socks for running too, and mine are black with orange writing on them.

I think orange should be for food and flowers only. Sorry!

Oh chafing... I didn't even know I was chafing during my half training till it was all done and I found calluses on my butt cheeks! where my pantie line is... funny. It never hurt though thank goodness!

  12. Love the orange socks! Orange is Oregon State's colors (go Beavs!) I always hit the area between the thighs with body glide before a long run - better safe than sorry!

  18. Chaffing stinks! Boo! Use the glide and you won't ever regret it :)

I'm digging those orange socks and love anything and everything compression... Even if it's purely psychological I think they help my leg aches.

  22. I really want to try compression socks but they are so pricey! I am on a strict budget this entire year and $30-50 socks are not in the budget...maybe I will ask for them for Christmas lol

  23. I swear by compression sleeves. I am obsessed with my new pink zensah pair, but I also have CEP in black and hot pink. :-)

  24. Chaffing SUCKS! As you can imagine, when you're a cyclist, if you don't take care, you get chaffing in VERY unpleasant areas! ;) Feel better!!!
