Missoula Marathon Pictures, the good, the bad, and the funny.

I had to sort through thousands of pictures to find all of mine, but I think i finally did and here are most of them, the good, the bad, and the funny!

. I was feeling so good in this first picture.  I think it was taken somewhere after mile 15 since that was when I put my ear buds in finally, but we weren't in town yet either so it was before mile 20. This is maybe my favorite picture out of all of them, since maybe it is the only one where I kind of look like I am loving what I am doing.

I think in this one I was feeling pretty crappy, but I don't think I had vomited yet. Something I am starting to notice about ALL my racing pictures is that I tend to run with my fingers curled and my thumb up.

It looks like I am about to give a big ol thumbs up in every picture.

This one was at the end and I felt about as good as I looked.

There were a bunch here at the end and I look like I am in pain and about to cry in all of them.  A) I was in pain, my quads were cramping up very tight.  B) I was about to cry.  I was so emotional!
and the shadows there really makes it look like I have stick legs, HA!

and DONE! WOO-HOO I did it!

Here is the funny picture.  26.2 miles, 3 hours 56 minutes and 55 seconds of racing.  I got out my phone with three miles left to give my mom a heads up since she had the kids and I get busted by the photographer. (note the thumb in the thumbs up position)

Finishers photos with the kids and my darling niece.

Have you ever been had your photo taken during a race doing something un-race like?

  8. I was taking off my shirt during a 1/2 marathon early this past June, and my husband saw the photographer getting "evidence". That event still hasn't posted pictures (that I know of!).
Very cool pictures overall! Unintentional thumbs up is better than thumbs down!

  12. Congratulations again on finishing your 1st Marathon! Love the pictures. When I see the phone shot it gave me a whole new idea about ordering pizza at mile 23 so it can be delivered hot to the finish line. Great photos!

My favorite picture is the first one. You looked great and the background is just beautiful.
Love the "thumbs up" gesture you have in almost all the pictures too.
And do you just stare at your arms and legs? They have some nice muscle definition! :)

  18. oh my gosh, love all the photos, even the one where you look like you're going to cry because you just look so tough and determined in all of them. Even the phone one you look like you're calling someone to say, "i'm going to kick this marathon's ass!" Congrats again!!

  23. Love the pics!! I wonder what the photographer thought. Man she must be feeling great if she is running and on the phone!

  24. Never talked on the phone during a race but I've done it on other runs. I always wonder what other people think when they see me doing it! Your pics are great compared to how mine normally turn out.

  25. Great pics, the cell phone one is hilarious, lol. Funny about the fingers curled thing, I think I do the same thing I realize. Maybe it's a runner thing or just a habit? I didn't know that I did that either til I saw myself in photos doing it in almost every one.

And it is hard to view pics of when you are struggling, though running isn't always pretty. Even the elites sometimes have trouble and break down - one example I think of is Paula Radcliffe in the 2004 Olympic Marathon, she seemed dehydrated, and dropped out at mile 20 or so.

  26. Great pics! The first one is quite lovely with the scenery in the background. I don't see where you are struggling in any of the photos, you look like a determined focused athlete in all of them :)

  31. THUMBS UP! Great photos. Mine are usually of me looking very tired. I found out that I run with my mouth open and my right pinky sticking out. Weird. Hey, whatever gets it done! Funny that you got caught with your phone!

  32. These are such great pics! I love the first one too! You look so settled and the water in the background really sets it off!

I once called my friend at mile 18 from my phone for moral support. I cried and then kept running. It was good to hear the voice of my training partner when I needed it! :)
