Fall Makes Summer Worth It.

Yesterday was one of the most perfect running days.. ever.  47 degrees when I left the house, mid fifties when I got done.  Slight breeze, sunny, no clouds in the sky.  Perfect.

I think Cola thought so too, he was always way out in front of me running.  Can you see him there down the trail?

I took a route I hadn't taken running before to start with for a three mile out and back, very worth it for the views I got once I got across the field.

It was like a drink of water for the soul.  The wide open spaces, the perfect weather, feeling like I could run forever.

This is how I felt about my run.  Notice Cola here.  I had the camera set on the self timer on a fence post.

Things I had to watch out for going off the beaten path, cactus, barbwire crossing fences, big cow turds (they can really trip you if you aren't paying attention) and porcupines, or something, but the tracks were pretty cool looking.

I ended up doing 12 miles.  4 on trails and 8 on the "roads".  I knew I had to get in my long run today since Wednesday it is supposed to be cold and snowy and that was when I was going to do my long run.

I love fall running.  You never know what the weather will be like and when it is perfect like today I just want to soak it all up.  I am not a summer kind of person.  I hate being hot. I love mornings where there is a slight chill to the air.  The air smells sweeter in the fall.   Too bad winter is next.  But I guess that is why I love spring so much.

What do you love about fall?

  2. I LOVE everything about fall. It is the time of year I really look forward too. It has been pretty chilly here in the morning, but then by afternoon it is up in the 70s. Still pretty decent afternoon running weather.

  4. That's an awesome picture of Cola watching you jump!! You have the best places to run out there in Montana! The weather has cooled down here on the east coast too but it's been pretty rainy so not beautiful blue skies as of late.

  17. We don't get much of a "Fall" in FL. I do love all the pumpkin and cinnamon smells coming from all the shops and restaurants this type of year, though.
Very jealous of your weather. What a beautiful day for a run! I'd submit that jumping pic to a running magazine, too!
