I have not done much speedwork since June really. I ran Hood to Coast in August and had some fast runs then, but for the most part I have done no intervals, no tempo runs, no 5ks, just pretty relaxed running. When I headed out on my run yesterday, I knew I wanted to do at least 5 miles and I also had less than 45 minutes to get it done. Totally doable at a just under 9 minute pace.
I did the first mile in 6:52 and felt amazingly good. I couldn't believe how good it felt and I just felt like I could keep going. I ended up averaging 7:40s for the run. I obviously I slowed down, I don't know if it was the sense of urgency to get back, the stress I have been under or just one of those days. Usually my first two miles are warm up miles and are a struggle to get them under a 9 minute mile. Today not an issue, it was like someone lit a fire in my pants!
My mileage this last month and a half has also been really really low for me, but I think my body just needed some downtime. I am loving my runs again. I never want to NOT run, but for awhile it was feeling like a bit of a chore to get out the door so I cut back on my mileage and have been cross training more.
Yesterday we all went up to Bozeman (which is why I had to get my run done so fast) and took the kids to their very first Bobcat Football game. So much fun, the weather was a touch on the chilly side but not too bad. A guy I worked with hooked us up with some tickets and my mother in law bought us all sweathshirts and hats for the game.
FUN TIMES! and Bobcats won :)
Speedy run there! Nice! Love the family photo and glad that you had a great time with the family!!

ReplyDeleteI love the family photo. And congrats on that fire in your pants and finding the mojo again.
ReplyDeleteThere would literally have to be a fire in my pants for me to run a 6:20 mile!
ReplyDeleteAlso lovin' the family photo!
Cute family photo! I'm glad your team won. Last weekend my husband and I traveled to Oregon State and joined our daughter at a Beaver football game. The three of us were decked out in OSU colors. (Go Beavs!)
ReplyDeleteNice quick run! Love the family photo :) How was the game?
ReplyDeleteNice run Christy!!! Glad that you got to spend the day with your family at the game. Football at this time of the year does get a bit chilly. I am already preparing myself to freeze to death next weekend. I usually go through two or three seats of hand & feet warmers. UGH.
ReplyDeleteGreat run!! Time constraints always help me get out the door faster.
ReplyDeleteNice going on the speedy run... and your MIL is a keeper for sure. What a lovely GENEROUS gift for all of you.... fun!
