This is Montana and October so really it could snow any day and last Wednesday we got our first snow of the season. It of course melted but it did get really foggy and cold Saturday morning and left the plants coated in frost. It was really pretty.
I had a beautiful run and with the sun shining, barely any wind, and temps on the high thirties it was nearly perfect running over the weekend. Yesterday I ran in the wind and the rain for 6 miles but then the rain went away and I had five more miles of running with the wind that felt really good. Felt strange to run in mud after such a dry dry summer. Being a farmers daughter I know better than to complain too hard about rain. :)
The hard part about this time of year is trying to figure out how to dress. A little wind can make a big difference as well as whether or not the sun is out. I prefer to start out over vs under layered so that I can shed as I go. I really hate being cold. I tend to just drop clothes as I go if I am doing an out and back and then pick them back up on the way back. I usually end up shedding my coat before the first mile. I love that I can drop it and know it will be there when I get back.
Last Friday night Cola managed to have a run in with a skunk. I am not sure of the details as I was inside cleaning and he was out in the dark. I just know that as I was vacuuming I started to catch a whiff of skunk.
My husband let Cola inside and eww! Cola spent a few nights out in the doghouse!

Oh man, I can't imagine how awful it would be if Bungee got skunked! How do you even get that smell out??
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good run. I'm sure I could leave layers as I ran and they wouldn't be gone when I came back, but I would feel weird because that would essentially mean I was tossing clothes in people's lawns :).
Oh no!! Poor Cola!! Hope you were able to get rid of the smell! It is finally starting to cool down here in CA and of course I'm sidelined!! Gotta love life!!

ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while we have a skunk go through our backyard. Usually at night so I smell it when I let the girls out in the morning. Thankfully the girls have never met one before. I can only imagine how awful the stink would be!

ReplyDeleteI so love Cola! He reminds me of my dog Bogie! They're built so much a like it's not even funny. Cola just has more hair. My dog loves to chase skunks and I swear he's gotten sprayed multiple times! I wonder, can he not sense, being a dog n all that those things are loaded and that they're gonna hate what happens to them when they get to close?? HAHAHA! My whole house smells like skunk sometimes.

ReplyDeleteOh, poor Cola! Poor you, as well. We had a skunk living somewhere in our neighborhood for a while and it constantly stunk. Not quite the same as having the family dog sprayed, but still yucky.

ReplyDeleteI love that pic. When I run at home I totally leave my clothes on the side of the road/trail and come back for them later. I have run past my jacket a time or two though on the way back!
