1. Here is a great reason why I keep notebooks of old workouts. It is fun to go back and do older ones and see how much I have improved. My upper body strength is so much better! I killed the dive bombers. Just saying.
2. Did a 9.5 mile long run yesterday. I made Cola stay at home, but he really seems unaffected by the run on Monday. I think I will let him venture out with me this weekend again. :) makes me happy to think about getting to run with my Cola dog, I have been missing his happy running face.
3. I am getting excited to start training for a half marathon in the spring. i am oddly excited to start doing 400s and 800s again and to have more structure to my running. The break has been nice though. I was feeling pretty tired after my marathon last July. My little sister and I are looking at doing a half on March and then another in April. They will be about three weeks apart so that should be plenty of recovery time.
Do you keep track of old workouts?
I've never kept track of old workouts but I imagine it would be helpful. It is nice to go back and look on Daily Mile and see how I've improved with my speed.
ReplyDeleteI should keep track of my workouts - I imagine it's a great tool to track progress. Although at this point I think it would just make me cry to see how much fitness I have lost! :) Glad Cola is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI like to look back over my log and compare stuff too! Great job with the upper body strength. I have been slacking there lately.
ReplyDeleteTraining for a half will be great fun for you!
Really need to start doing this, I just found some old notebooks with empty pages too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what dive bombers are, but DANG! Quite the improvement.
ReplyDeleteSince I have started Insanity, I have this deep need for improvement. Part of the program is a "fit test" every two weeks. My first fit test on Monday was pretty pathetic. if I don't see a major improvement by the end, I'm going to be very sad.
I would totally miss running with Bungee if she got hurt. I love having her along lately. If I get bored, I can just talk to her. I look crazy, but oh well. Glad Cola is doing better!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that Cola is doing better! When I had to run without Peanut when she got sick, it felt so wrong to be out there without her, so I feel your pain. Hopefully he'll be back out there everyday with you soon!
ReplyDeleteI have a spiral notebook that I have been writing a collection of workouts in and I always go back to find something fresh and spice it up!
ReplyDeleteI've been logging my workouts on daily mile for around 2 years, but I don't always specify number of reps or split times. I think it might be useful to start doing that.
ReplyDeleteI keep a running journal, but not a workout one. That's a really good idea! Seeing improvement would definitely motivate me.
ReplyDeleteIve never been one to track workouts. Although this year im doing well with daily mile.
ReplyDeleteIm soooo happy Cola dog is getting much better!! :)
Awesome workout improvements!!!
ReplyDeleteYay that Cola is getting better. Great news.
I track my running but I like the idea of tracking workouts too! And yay for half marathon training!
ReplyDeleteI used to write all my workouts down. I should go and find those binders. Now I keep track of all my miles online, as well as any time spent doing other things, but I don't track the poundage/reps anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhich 1/2 marathon are you going to run? I log all of my workouts online and when I am training for a race I make excel spreadsheets that show how much I have or have not improved. I am glad that Cola is pretty much back to his happy little self. Enjoy your run this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI should write down more of my workouts. That's what my blog was originally intended for- a record of my training. Now I just ramble about nonsense... or write nothing at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad Cola is doing better!
I keep journals too and love looking back at the old ones!!!
ReplyDeleteDive bombers??? You seriously rock!
I am so glad Cola has been back out there! It won't be long before he can come every time.
