Three Things Thursday

1. I stubbed my toe on the top stair coming up from the basement on Monday.  It cracked so loud and hurt so bad I was convinced I had gotten at least three of them.

I was really worried about running on it.  I taped it to the one next to it and ran 7 miles yesterday morning with minimal pain.  YAY!

Sorry for the ugly foot shot.

2. My iPod got wet Monday and will turn on but that is about it.  I can't do anything with it other than light up the scree with the button on top.  Christmas is coming! Coincidentally the ipod nano 7th generation is out there.  and they are so pretty!

I would be happy with whatever my generation of them is, 4th maybe, the crazy thing is they still sell for nearly as much as the new ones.

3. It snowed over the weekend and the snow wasn't ideal, but we did manage a small snowman.

He didn't last long though.
My sister and I got in a snowy run that was like running in sand, sort of.

and Cola got to go too.
Thanks for all the great birthday wishes!

What kind of mp3 player do you use?  Would you recommend it?

  1. Something I would love to do, run in the snow! Hoping we get some snow here on the east coast this year so I can! Ouch, that toe looks sore. :(

  3. Ouch!!! I love to run with my iPhone on my arm. I just play the music w/o headphones that way I can hear cars coming. But for treadmill runs and races - I go for my tiny little shuffle. Love the clip on it. ;)

  4. I love snow! You are so lucky to live somewhere that reliably snows in winter :) Those new iPods look super-cute! I have an old iPod but I usually use my iPhone for music and podcasts.

  5. I fell down stairs the other day and rolled on my ankle, so absolutely feel your pain.

And, funny enough, I ran in the rain 2 weeks ago and killed my iPod Nano. We bought the Replacement plan at Best Buy when we purchased the iPod because I kill iPods all the time while running, so my new 7th generation nano was free. (though I did pay for the new replacement plan because I am sure this one will eventually die.) But I do love it so far. Much lighter than my old one, and yes, pretty!

  6. The ipods have come along ways! I have a nano, but never use it because I just use my phone.

  7. I used to use an iPod nano, but I really didn't like the armband or the risk of sweating all over it, so I sold it on ebay. Now I use the shuffle. I love it. It's tiny, clips on your shorts, and works perfectly for running. I have an iPhone, too, that I use to listen to music when I'm not running.

Your toe looks gruesome! I'm glad it doesn't hurt too much to run on it.

  8. Put your Ipod in a bag of rice. It just might come back. (Unless you want it dead so you can get a new one.... then disregard).

I saw a kid who had a nano attached to a band so that it was worn like a watch! So cool.

  10. Aw, poor snowman :( makes me sad for him.

I have the last Ipod Nano...I think. It's the super small one though that clips on your running shorts....it's more like the shuffle but still has the screen. I love it and never want to run with anything else again. I'm actually disappointed to see that they've gone back to the more rectangular one. The square shape is the best for running.

  13. I like my ipod shuffle. I can fit all my songs and podcasts on it. And if it gets lost or wrecked I am out $49, not $149.

  14. Ouch! That toe looks so painful!
I was looking at those ipods the other day- they really are so cute. I haven't ran with music for almost a year, so I probably should just stick with that and save the $$.

  16. a. That toe looks a little below average.
    b. I go through iPods like they're shoes or something - I've ruined so many of them.
    c. Please keep all snow in your neck of the woods ... forever!!!

  17. Ouch, I'm so sorry! That looks awful! I use an ipod touch, or my iphone. It's big and bulky but I love it anyway.

  18. Hope your foot feels better really soon... taping the toes together was a good move. Hurray for Cola! Are you recovered from your birthday yet?

  19. Happy Belated Birthday! Ouch for your toes, hope they're better now. My ipod is 5 years old, and it only lasts for 3 songs when I run outside with it. Maybe I should ask santa for the new one too!

  20. I use my iPhone for running music in a waist thingy (yes, that's the technical name). I armbands just seem really uncomfortable. The new nano is really pretty.

  21. I may be too late, but put your ipod in a bowl of dry rice and leave it for about 24 hours. Somehow that gets all the moisture out and it should work again.
I'm sorry about your foot, that looks terribly painful! Hope it gets better soon!

  22. OMG! Your toe looks bad!! I'm glad it was ok and you were able to run on it!! Sorry about your iPod. How much new generations are compared to the old is crazy! Your poor snowman looks a bit like a snowdrunk... And Happy Belated Birthday!!
