What a difference a day makes

Yesterday was long run day and the weather while not particularly cold at 35 degrees was overcast, windy and kept spitting snow at us.  My sister has been having problems with her back/hip so she cut out around mile 7 and I finished the last 6.2 by myself, well and Cola of course.  It took me 2 hours to run the 13.2 miles.

Here is what it looked like yesterday.

Happily today was a much different story right form the get go.  A little snowier road since it snowed all yesterday afternoon here.

Today's run was supposed to be an easy 6 or 7 miles...  I kind of didn't follow the plan very well

I don't know if it was the new playlist I was trying out for my upcoming half marathon, (I have been only listening to podcasts lately) the Starburst jellybeans, or the sunshine or maybe a combination of it all, but the legs felt the need to take it up a notch.  The first mile was the slowest at 8:40, after that I decided to just let my legs do what they wanted.
I might have to buy some more of these!
Anyone else look forward to the jellybeans this time of year?

  3. Glad you had such a great run! I think jellybeans or any candy would set off my sugar monster after not having any for so long!

  4. I look forward to jelly beans 365 days of the year. They are one of my favorite candies to snack on. That and cherry nibs.

Great run for you! It is funny how we can struggle so much one and then the next day have an awesome run or workout.

  7. You are incredibly speedy anyway - but I'm thinking - maybe if I get some of those yummy jelly beans, I'll be faster. Right? :)

  8. I love using jelly beans and candy corn as running fuel, so Easter is a good time for me! Never tried the Starburst ones, though - going to have to find those.

  9. You are so speedy! Ive had some bad runs followed by some super spectacular runs lately. So strange how the body can be so inconsistent even when it seems like nothing is out of whack :)

I dont like jelly beans, but gummy bears usually give me a huge pep in my step for runs.

  11. Starburst Jelly Beans are the best kind of jelly beans! I've never tried them for fuel, though. They'd probably freeze in my pocket if I took them now.

    Awesome job on your runs!

  12. I freaking love those jelly beans! Time for me to scout some out. I hadn't thought of using them as running fuel, but that's a genius idea!

You are amazingly fast, btw. :-)

  13. I love jelly beans - especially the Starburst ones. Now I just need to follow your lead and use them as running fuel and not just sitting around snacks. :)

  15. Oh I love it when I just run (or should I say RUN!) and it turns out to be a fast and fun run. I can't believe you ran faster when there was snow everywhere. I would think it would be more slippery and harder to run faster. Great job!
