I would say yep! I am faster than I was in high school!
I kind of wanted to do it close to 6 minutes...but I started out a little fast and by the last quarter of a mile I was convinced I was going to empty my stomach contents onto the road when I was done.
Luckily I didn't. The funny thing was, it was like a reset or something for my legs. My warm up mile slogged along at 8:43, but the cool down mile ended up being 7:22. (after catching my breath and settling my stomach) That is sort of a cool down. I think my legs got all excited about the speed!
What didn't get excited were these boys, they were too busy eating. I ran past them three times and they could have cared less.
Guess they knew more snow was coming and they wanted to get their bellies full!
No sooner did I turn towards my driveway than I was blasted with wind and more snow. The whole day was intervals of sunshine and snowstorms. Not enough snow to amount to anything really, just to be annoying.
After I got in the house I decided to skip my planned ZWOW and put my feet up instead. or maybe I cleaned the kitchen and cooked a gourmet dinner. In my defense I had already done an hour on the elliptical earlier in the day to avoid the snowstorms.
Haha, you felt like you were going to vomit and just kept running. I thought I was going to die after my mile, so I opted for walking :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could see a video of you flying past your cows!! Great job on your mile quick girl!! I would say I'm much faster on distance now than I was in high school but I played soccer and softball so I was really good at sprints then! We'll have to see!
ReplyDeleteYou are so freaking fast! I haven't done my mile yet but on the bright side, I wasn't a runner when I was younger :) The only time I remember was from the 5th grade Presidential Physical Fitness test and I got a 9:02, so I'm fairly confident I can beat that :)
ReplyDeleteI knew you were fast but...dang...you are FAST! Awesome job! I love your description of the cows eating, not even giving you a second glance...hah! Once my knee feels better, I'm going to try this challenge...I'll admit, I'm curious now!
ReplyDeleteYes! My best mile was 6:24 in high school gym class (pretty crazy that I remember that from so long ago), but I think I've lost a lot of speed since I was a sprinter. This does make me curious, though!
ReplyDeleteSpeedy gal! I haven't done a mile to see how fast I can go. You have me tempted to now!

I know i'm faster than high school, but that wouldn't be terribly hard I wasn't a runner then. I did sports but HATED running :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, speedster! Amazing time. I am definitely faster than high school but I wasn't athletic at all and walked the gym class mile.
ReplyDeleteI ran an 8:43 the other day and thought I wanted to puke at that. Wonder what would happen if I got to 6:16? HAHAHA, peeing my pants would I'm sure be included. I say you win this contest!
ReplyDeleteSpeedy speedy speedy!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, speedy! I don't think I ever tried to run a fast mile in high school--all my running was about keeping weight off and it was slow. I'm hoping to do a mile race this summer to see what I can do on that front. The potential-puking stuff doesn't sound fun, though. :^)
ReplyDeleteI peaked in Grade School my 5th grade year with about a 9:05 mile, the only time in my life I ever remember running the entire thing. Now it's funny to think i just ran a half marathon sub that pace per mile!!
ReplyDeleteWell done!!! My niece (23) has just started seriously running. She ran a 22.5 5K (sheesh) and puked at the end. My sister was all up in arms that this was a major problem. Had to tell her that, no, running till you puke is just a sign that her daughter was an awesome rock star who wasn't afraid to give it all she had.
ReplyDeleteHot damn, that is fast! Way yo knock it out of the park!
ReplyDeleteNice mile!! I never had a timed mile in school... ever! you're pretty speedy! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome speedy pace!
ReplyDeleteNo idea what my times were in high school as it was so long ago! I do know that I never ran the distance I can now, and I liked the cross-country - probably because I was a farm girl and felt right at home hurdling gates and traversing mud.
Cows are funny - whenever I used to run along the road next to our cow paddock the whole herd would run after me along the fenceline, which was kind of embarrassing!
I don't remember my best mile time from HS, but I know that I am way faster now.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember my time in high school either, but I want to say it was like 14 minutes..so even though I'm still super slow, I'd say I could do one miler under 10 minutes now. I'm not sure I ever "ran" an entire mile until a few years ago. Even in school I walked part of the mile. I was just never a runner.
ReplyDeleteNice job!
You are seriously fast! Your cows are seriously the worst cheerleaders ever. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI would have so given you some cow bell!
Hot damm that is a fast mile! Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat time stud! That's movin' those feet! Great job.
ReplyDeleteWahoooooo... I would never have run a mile in high school, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteI ran for fun in high school and stress relief. So no organized stuff. I do know I am faster now though.
ReplyDeleteI never ever ran in high school! My husband was on of those 4:30 mile runners.. he's still fast.
ReplyDeleteYou are AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I should try that challenge!
ReplyDeleteYou are one speedy lady!
ReplyDeleteBecoming a runner later in life has made me realize how LAZY I was in high school :).
love that challenge! the only time i ran in high school was the required warm-up lap.
ReplyDeleteThat's super fast! We had to run a mile every week in high school and I was the fastest for a while, at about a 7:45 mile pace! So I am definitely faster than I was then, but I haven't done a one mile "sprint" yet; it would be fun to try it!
