Three Things Thursday

 1. After a very nice week of beautiful fall weather a storm rolled in Sunday night and left us with a very frosty countryside Tuesday morning when I left for work.  I thought it would be all melted off by the time I got home from work, but it had stayed foggy at home all day and it was so beautiful.
The frost was a good one and a half inches long on everything.

Remember this guy?  Rocky was more interested in my giving him his supper than watching me take pictures of all the frost.

2. The kids had school pictures recently.  Cade isn't very impressed with his. I think it looks like he is about to say something.  He didn't want to do retakes so we will just stick with it I guess.

Avery looks so grown up in hers.  Hard to believe my baby is in kindergarten!

yesterday was much sunnier than Tues and Mon
3.  I ran 4 miles on the beautiful snowy frosty roads yesterday.  I really do love running in this kind of weather. It was 25, sunny and a minimal wind.  It just feels so invigorating.  The bad foot felt good and I wanted to run and run and run, but I did the smart and boring thing and quit at 4.  Hard to believe I only ran 3 times all of October.  November better be a different story!

Did I mention it was beautiful out? Did I mention I love running in the winter.

(disclaimer: I reserve the right to whine about winter running when the weather gets really cold or when I am ready for spring)

What about you winter runner lover or do you just stay inside and miss out all winter?

  1. I HATE winter, but I totally agree that a run on a sunny, snowy day is pretty awesome!

  2. That frost is so beautiful! I love running in the snow but it always takes me a minute to get used to the cold once winter rolls around.

  4. Looks beautiful! I thought it would have snowed here by now, but we've just had freezing rain and high wind advisories - I would so prefer snow and a temp around 32 - perfect winter weather (because let's be honest, it's not really fall anymore, lol).

  5. You know me - I love snow, but more for the skiing than the running! (Although I'd rather run in snow than rain)

  6. I can't believe it snowed! I love how the snow looks but hate the cold. Rocky is so cute!

  7. Until this year, I've lived in California my entire life. Now I live in Hawaii. Winter has never been a consideration!

  8. I love snow, especially when it is sunny too! Unfortunately we don't get it where I live now, but we used to get it once or twice a year down south. Enjoy it while it lasts!

  10. I would whine a lot about winter weather if it looked like that in my backyard in October!!! I like snow and winter...in moderation!!

  11. I hate winter. Mainly because all I ever do "outside" is drive and shovel snow and I don't like either.

  12. My winter and your winter are two very different things so I will have to say I enjoy running in my winter but I'm not sure I could run in snow. Hard to believe Rocky started out so tiny! The kids pictures turned out good. Avery certainly looks older than kindergarten!

  13. So happy you are running again! Do people still buy school pics? None of my parents do! I moved away from upstate NY bc I hated their winters so much - now half an inch of snow means everything is shut downs and I love it. It's supposed to be over 70 today. Yes, please.

  14. I'm drooling over your descriptions of the weather...and snow, too! Love it. Glad your foot is feeling better!

  15. It is seriously beautiful there! I mean, I'd definitely complain about running in it, but it looks amazing!

  16. Whoa, that frost is intense!! And beautiful! I also love running in the snow/frost, with weather like that. Just as long as I can tell where I'm supposed to run (sidewalk, trail, whatever), we're good!
