On the bright side

Since it is hunting season I like to try to wear bright colors when out running.

I think this shirt and socks that I wore yesterday is a winner.  Pretty sure I will not be mistaken for a deer while wearing this.  These pictures don't even quite capture the neon brightness of my shirt and socks, but you get the idea.
shirt from Ellie and socks from Pro Compression, shorts not bright but great from Swirl Gear
even more so than this bright outfit that I wore exactly a year ago yesterday, although it is still bright and visible!
I really miss those shoes.  I wish the Pure Flows would never have changed the 2s were just not for me and the originals were so perfect!  I should have bought every pair I could find.  Maybe the 3s will be for me again.  I have heard other people with that same complaint so I feel justified in my complaints.

Speaking of a year ago.  A year ago exactly my little sis and I were going for a run on my favorite route.  and we stopped to try and get a fun jumping picture.

I know why she had to move but that doesn't mean I like it!  Apparently we weren't so worried about hunters on this day.
also I got my first picture in for my virtual run.  There is a $25 iTunes gift card for the picture winner!  So far I have raised $165 for the South Dakota Ranchers Relief Fund!  YAY!

How important are bright visible running clothes to you?  I don't usually worry too much about it unless it's hunting season!

  1. I love the orange! I NEED some orange socks. (OK, maybe I just want orange socks...) In my urban area, bright is helpful, but I don't have to worry about hunters. LOL

  2. Lol!! I def don't need to worry about hunters when I run but I do worry about people not paying attention!! I try to wear visible clothes that will show up when the sun is in drivers faces! On the shoes...what if you tried runners warehouse online?

  3. I have a ton of bright clothes, but don't really worry about hunters unless I'm on trails...which I don't really do much anymore. I miss it.

  5. I hope your shoes "come back around". Sauconys Guides did it for me. I liked the 4, skipped on the 5, and returned with the 6. Fingers crossed that the 7s work for me when I need to switch shoes again.

  6. i hate wearing reflective vests (they move and can chafe) so I"m all about the bright colors once it hits 4pm and starts to get dark here.

  7. You look awesome in that outfit!!! It is hunting season here too and we have dark roads with no lights, so I am always wearing bright and reflective gear.

  8. I look like a traffic cone when I run on the trail during hunting season. This year, I even found some crazy bright patterned tights that are SOOOOO obnoxious, I can't even look at them while running (or doing sit-ups) without a headache!
I'm having the same shoe problem with Kinvaras. The 3's were great, but the 4s are too narrow, and I've heard the next version is slightly narrower yet. GRRR. So right now I'm running in Brooks PureDrift and Merrell Mix Masters.
Shoe companies should poll their actual users before making changes, not just a small test group.

  9. Love the orange - it looks awesome on you too! You also look great in shorts, they make me look like a heffalump.
And most importantly - yay, you're running!

  10. I like bright colors even though most of my running is done on the treadmill at the gym. Bright is just my personality!!

Um........... I liked the original Flows and I have a pair of 2s on their way for me to try. I got them CRAZY cheap - like $50, so it will not be the most horrible thing in the world if they don't work for me. Have to supplement my crazy expensive Newtons.

I love jumping pictures, but they are SO HARD to get!

  11. The Orange is AWESOME! I live deep in suburbia so I'm not to worried about some guy in his bushes with a rifle and a beer... ok, not entirely worried about it, maybe watchful for the possibility, ;) , but I do worry about the dark and all of the 16 year old drivers in my neighborhood so I tend to light myself up like a freaking Christmas tree when I go running.

  12. Bright clothes are pretty important to me but not because it is hunting season! I am paranoid about getting hit by a car. That sounded kind of scary to me :) I love the orange on you!

  15. Love your bright-ness! You definitely won't be mistaken for a deer!! :0) I don't live near any hunting areas so I don't have to worry about what I wear when I run...but I do love bright colors!

  16. The other day I was at the sporting goods store and they had ALL Reebok running clothes, etc stuff on sale for 50% off!!! I grabbed all the neon things I could. I run in town and there's lots of traffic. Since it gets darker out now I want cars to see me, especially since I kinda hve to run ON the road at times.

You wear bright colors well! They suit you!

  17. Also, I meant to say, on the shoes...next time I get a pair and I love them, I'm going to go ahead and get a second pair! I've had to learn the same lesson you have as well. Why can't shoe companies keep a good thing going??

  18. I think your bases are covered! I don't really run on any land shared with hunters around here--I am usually in a state park when on trails and they can't hunt there. But when visiting a friend in Utah in Sept, we encountered several hunters which made me realize that my white hat was not so ideal...

  19. I love the bright shirt & socks! I wore a very similar color orange shirt for my run over the weekend with bright pink arm warmers. I do really like bright colors, but I like some toned down pieces too. Like you brights are a must for me during hunting season, which isn't as much of a big deal this season because I'm barely running. I am so happy to see you getting your mileage back up though!

ps--thanks for the jerky, we loved it!

  20. I love the outfit! My last race shirt was about that color and I love that. It's impt to me. Because I run at 5am and I'm usually half asleep and my reflexes can't be trusted so I need cars to see me!
