He set the bar really high for what I expected in a man. I did do a pretty good job finding one. I knew my husband had to drive a pickup truck, be tall, strong, mechanic on my car, be from a ranching back ground, like cows, want to live out of town and want to raise our kids in the western lifestyle and just overall be a good person. Also have a sense of humor. There were other things of course. I really did try to date some "city" boys but it never felt right.
One of the best things about growing up on the ranch was "getting" to help on it all the time so I grew up spending a lot of time working with my Dad. I didn't always appreciate it at the time when my friends were off doing fun things, but now I wouldn't trade it for the world. So many lessons learned that have carried me through my life.
Happy Birthday Poppa!
2. Easter goats. Yep there is such a thing because my kids are getting kids of their own for Easter from their Grandpa (my husbands dad) They were just weaned and are freaking cute. Not too sure what we will do with them.
Not sure the kids can use them for 4-H projects since they aren't dairy goats (they are boys) and pretty sure they would object to raising them for meat and those are the two options.
I have been learning a lot about goats though, like 65% of the red meat consumed in the world is goat meat and the US imports a lot of goat meat to meet demand. Maybe we will start raising goats!
3. I felt like a found some mojo back yesterday. see happy sweaty face selfie!
Yoga, elliptical, two short intense strength workouts and I worked on my pullups/chinups. YAY for mojo back!
Ever had goat meat? Not me! I would try it just to try it though, can't be all bad if that many people eat it.
Goat meat? Nope.. never... I'm a vegetarian & after seeing that picture of that precious goat, that's exactly why I can't eat meat :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daddy! I'm a daddy's girl so I know how special it is to have a great dad in your life.
Those goats are freaking adorable. I want one! Our friends have goats that they use to clear their land instead of mowing. Bungee always wants to go play with them. They don't seem so keen, so it's a good thing they are fenced in.
ReplyDeleteYour relationship with your dad is so special - what a blessing :) .
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of anything goat - goat's milk, goat's milk yoghurt, goat's milk cheese - it all has a very goaty smell...!
I love that picture of you and your Dad!!! Happy birthday Big Poppa!!!
ReplyDeleteyour dad is so young! I"m always hesitant to try new meats- to this day i still have never had deer, lamb, elk. I had duck for the first time ever this past summer. Baby steps

ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! And in response to yesterday's post, please keep blogging! I haven't been reading for long, but look forward to your posts. :) Also, I was nominated for a Liebster award. My answers to 10 questions will post to my blog tomorrow. I needed to nominate more people. I have not "connected" with a lot of other bloggers, but chose to nominate you. Hope you'll check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love baby goats, they way they jump and kick. Sorry, cannot imagine eating one although I do like goat's milk cheeses. Happy Birthday to your handsome DADDY!
ReplyDeleteThose goats are so cute I can hardly stand it! Love the wonderful things you wrote about your dad. I don't think I've ever had goat meat but I love lamb. I wonder if it's similar in taste.
ReplyDeleteKid goats are the cutest ever. When I was little, my parents raised sheep and goats, and playing with the little goats was the most fun, so it's cool that your kids get that experience. I've never eaten goat but I doubt I'd like it... I can't stand goat milk or goat cheese.
