It is a bit of a winter wonderland out there right now.
I did use my downtime to catch up on Downton Abbey, that makes the time on the elliptical go by faster for sure.
I messaged my friend Sarah about PiYo the other day asking if she had done it and liked it. I was about to order it, but was wondering if it was going to be enough of a workout for me since it is low impact. I am glad I waited. After going back and forth a bit she ended up sending me her P90x3 to try out. I haven't done any Beach Body type workouts so I am excited as it always seems like there is a lot of hype about them.
not sure if I am that excited, but here goes! |
This morning as soon as I am done with this I will do the warrior workout. The classic workout guide calls for the agility workout today, but since my family will be trying to sleep while I do it, I will save it for another day.
In other news... I am finally registered for my first race of 2015!! I am going to do the Run to the Pub half marathon in Bozeman, MT. I did this race several years ago with my little sister and had a blast. This year I am doing it with another Team Beef Montana runner and hopefully 2 of them.
I had been procrastinating a bit on registering for the race, I missed the early entry fee and the price went up. Bummer. A local running friend was kind enough to transfer her bib to me after not being able to do the Run to the Pub for the second year in a row. The race director was super awesome about it and there wasn't even a transfer fee. Since Lindsay basically donated the bib to me I am sending her a fun surprise. Good things come to those who wait!
Which also means I need to get a running plan in place! I don't think I am too far off really as Christmas day I ran 10 miles and it felt pretty great. I need to start running some hill repeats and doing the dreaded speed work. I am wondering how P90X3 will work with half marathon training.
Guess I will find out. Anyone done them at the same time?
Thoughts on PiYo?
Sounds like you had a similar virus to the one I had. I was down for the count for three days, but got back to running on the fourth. It sucked the life out of me, I swear! Two weeks later and I still don't feel quite 100% on my energy levels. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI've done Turbo Jam by Beachbody and love it, but like you am on the fence about PIYO. I love the ideal of yoga and pilates mixed and using body weight. I'm like you I like to know I got a workout by sweating a lot. I'm just now figuring out that I actually might love yoga. Its so much hard than I thought, that is if you try some of the harder poses. Keep me informed if you try PIYO.
ReplyDeleteYeah for 2015 race plans. I used P90X and Run Less Run Faster to get my half marathon PR. Yoga and 2 days of weights (the leg weights day fell by the wayside), plus 3 days of running. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteRun to the Pub is on my Racing Bucket List!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes for you! I am going to be in Kansas this year or I would have registered for that one (10K distance, however!) as well! :)
ReplyDeletenoticed the comment re the elliptical. mine has been my secret weapon. 15% of my total miles dedicated to elliptical to keep the injuries at bay!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about Piyo too. Still on the fence. Glad you are feeling better.
