Scenes from my winter run

It's been cold here since the beginning of December.. we had a really divine fall. Like an ideal fall, the weather was insanely perfect and everyone knew it had to end, but no one wanted it too. My last run in shorts and a tank was November 27, coincidentally also my birthday, since then I have been running in the cold all bundled up.

There have been a few scattered days of sunshine and temps in the 30s and 40s but it feels like so few and far between. If I had to describe this winter I would say it's really what you think of as winter, cold, snowy and miserable.

Here are a few scenes from my winter running

All that snow does make for pretty pictures though.  I have been running on snow packed roads a lot.
As long as it isn't icy, it's pretty good to run on
These are what I think of as the colors of winter, whites, browns, and blues in the sky
and the muted green of the evergreens.
but I love it best when the skies are the achingly beautiful endless blue.

I don't think I would want to live somewhere that doesn't have the 4 very distinct seasons.

The snow globe look is pretty too

  1. I think snow is pretty to look at, but I don't normally run in it. Luckily we do not get a lot of snow here. We had our one big snow storm of the season and I hope we are done!

  3. I'm coveting some of your snow. And that blue sky. I too love running on snow pack. For some reason Mom Nature skipped us this year. I suppose there's still plenty of time for her to make it up to us.

  4. You have it much colder than us! Our winter has been pretty mild... it's in the 40s today and supposed to hit 50s tomorrow which is very unusual. So crazy how different it can be across the country!

  5. Wow, I would love to run where you live! I do enjoy running on a snow packed trail! We've had hardly any snow in Philly so far.

  6. Beautiful! We definitely don't have four seasons here and I hate it sometimes!

  7. I usually enjoy winter running, but this winter has been so weird. Very little snow, but the absolute cold weather and plenty of wind. It's not as enjoyable being outside when there's NO snow to crunch on ;-)

  8. Look at all that snow! What a cozy and cute look for this cold weather! Totally agree about having a good pair of snow boots, they are essential! Techlazy.com Howmate.com Crazyask.com
